Vintners, Meat Curers, Game Suppliers, even Pest Controllers, but Sound Equipment Suppliers? Yes, even the Queen needs a PA every now and again, and who does she turn to when that need arises but R G Jones Sound Engineering of course. In a testimony to the importance that RG's place on quality of service, the company is thrilled to announce that in 2006, it was granted the Royal Warrant, after a rigorous vetting process that took over a year to complete. It was a highly appropriate way to mark the company's 80th year.
The Royal Warrant is no walk in the park to those that hold it, of whom there are currently around 800. The company's means, methods and modes of practice are all taken into consideration, and once granted, regular reviews are conducted to ensure that the regulations of the Warrant are upheld. The Grantors, as they are known, are advised by the Lord Chamberlain who is head of the Royal Household and chairman of the Royal Household Tradesmen's Warrants Committee. However, the final decision to grant a Royal Warrant is made by the member of the Royal Family concerned. In the case of RG Jones, this is Her Majesty The Queen.
RG Jones has been installing, maintaining and operating sound systems for the Royal Household for over twenty years now, and it is this that has gone a long way to securing the Warrant. Also highlighted in the submission to the Grantors were many of the major events attended by members of the Royal Family for which the company has provided sound systems. Among these were the opening of the Thames Barrier, the Queen and Prince Philip's 50th wedding anniversary gala at the Royal Festival Hall, the opening of the new Lloyd's of London, the Golden Jubilee celebrations and the funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales.
RG Jones is proud to be the first English sound company to be able to display the Royal Warrant. Not only is it a landmark for the oldest PA company in the land, but it is also significant for the rest of the entertainment technology industry, highlighting the fact that perhaps the industry is finally coming of age. It's not rock 'n' roll, but at RG's we like it!
