Following The (Aviva) Yellow Brick Road To 2012!
14th January 2009
The gripping indoor international athletics match in the world returns to its established home in Glasgow for the 2009 athletics season, the Aviva International Match at Kelvin Hall. Last year saw an exciting win for the GB team, who managed to sweep a very impressive second this year after the Commonwealth Select. The format sees elite athletes - more accustomed to competing for individual glory - having to earn points for their country. There were some world class performances, not only marking the start of the indoor athletic season, but also the first steps on the long road to 2012. RG Jones provides a complete sound solution for the annual televised UK Athletics, which has become one of the most successful televised event series owned by any national athletics governing body in the world. The remit includes all sound effects and music replay using the very latest in replay technology.
RG Jones Senior Engineer Steve Carr headed up the crew. "Kelvin Hall is a notoriously difficult venue with high levels of crowd noise and difficult site-line restrictions. We have found that the best solution was the Synco/Martin Audio mini array. These boxes hung in strategic positions throughout the hall not only create a perfect solution for the camera crew, but also a seamless listening experience for the spectators".
