Wings and Wheels
20th September 2010

RG Jones equipment has been spotted at many an outdoor event since the 1930’s. We love to join in to celebrate what is quintessentially so British!
Wings & Wheels in Dunsfold is an exceptional family day out, showcasing some of the finest civil and military aircraft displays in the UK, combined with an astounding line-up of record-breaking race cars and motoring displays, courtesy of Brooklands Museum. More than 32,000 people attended the two day event.
RG Jones engineer Matt Sussex was in charge of the event on site, working alongside Ricky Spiers. “This is a fantastic show although it can be difficult to focus on the sound with so many exciting distractions flying over our heads. We cover the entire site, with extra coverage for the grandstand. Its long days and hard work but worth it!”
Weeks later and Matt found himself in yet another field. This time Kop Hill Climb in Buckinghamshire, celebrating their Centennial Year. This legendary event involves more than 300 cars and bikes – some historic, some modern – roaring up the hill.
“We arrived on site early on Friday to start the rig and the rain tried hard to wash us away! However, this just cleared the skies for what was to be a perfect weekend” explained Matt.
This was a first year for Jones’ and the comments from the client were very gratifying:
“I want to thank you for an outstanding job done by Matt and his crew at the Kop Hill Climb 2010. Despite terrible weather conditions on the set up (and the derig) all was completed on time and to the very highest standard and in a very cheerful and friendly style. The two systems worked perfectly and greatly contributed to the unqualified success of the weekend. We had an attendance of over 8,000 spectators with nearly 400 cars and motorcycles taking part and raised nearly £50,000 for the local charities we support.
Please convey our sincere appreciation to Matt and the team for a job very well done.”
