In the arms of an angel…RG’s on tour with Katherine Jenkins

The latest in the seemingly ever-increasing line of significant artists to join the RG Jones list of celebrity clients is none other than South Wales’ very own singing angel, Katherine Jenkins. In the world of classical and classical cross-over there can be no hotter property than this mezzo-soprano who is evidently determined to take the world by charm, as well as by storm using her unique and beautiful voice.
Having previously worked with Katherine on several occasions at events such as Henley Festival, it was a natural choice for her to come to RG’s. There is plenty thinking about, as KJ does a variety of performances, each needing a very different approach.
So far we have dealt with TV appearances, Help For Heroes at Twickenham, orchestral concerts in Denmark and Germany, and at the time of writing we are involved in a tour which takes in Germany, Australia and the USA. The tour is with Katherine’s band, a five piece with support from an 8-piece string section, featuring material from her cross-over album ‘Believe’. We are dealing with arrangements of everything from Bizet to Queen on the tour, utilizing the now familiar formula of primarily live instrumentation with fantastically well-produced playback tracks to beef it all up.
The orchestral concerts feel very much like home as KJ’s MD for these shows is none other than Anthony Inglis, who we all know extremely well from years of working together on Raymond Gubbay’s Classical Spectacular. Anthony is, by his own admission, a complete maestro, and is overjoyed to have us on board, knowing that he can trust us to get it right sonically every time whilst giving him the kind of ‘social support’ he enjoys so much….
We are looking forward to a long and exciting relationship with Katherine, and are proud to be involved. So far, so good, we’ve got some great results and everybody involved is very happy with the arrangement, and it has to be said that Katherine is a delight to work with.
