RG Jones returns to the Albert with Jose Carreras and friends
16th January 2011

RG’s were invited to once again work alongside one of the world’s greatest tenors for his Gala Concert in aid of the José Carreras International Leukaemia Foundation and Asthma UK, following the show's enormous success in 2008.
Georgina Davis recalls the evening:
"It was a truly magical experience. Once the audience were settled into their blush velvet seats, the lights began to fade and the Orchestra began to pour out of the wings dressed in beautiful dresses and suits.
They began playing, and the audience seemed hypnotised by the graceful twirl of the conductor’s baton as the notes danced around them. A cast performed The Party Scene – from Strausse’ famous opera Die Fledermaus. The beautiful costumes matching their beautiful voices.
As the second act began, it revealed the black background with golden lights making the setting all the more magical, as if it were a clear starry night.
Jose performed with some of the greatest names in Opera. Dame Kiri te Kanawa alongside him, her beautiful gowns catching the glint of the light and her enchanting soprano voice clearly capturing the audience.
All too soon all of the singers came on stage for the final encore. “White Christmas” rang out and snow began to fall from above the stage as the whole cast joined together, bringing the entire audience to their feet. Overall, it was an amazing night, an experience to be remembered forever”.
