RG Jones Sound Engineering was honoured to be chosen as the AV partner to modernise its systems while preserving the building’s stately grandeur.
RG’s relationship with Mansion House and the City of London extends back decades, supporting banquets, conferences and diplomatic events with seamless audio-visual delivery. But in 2010, the need for a full system upgrade became clear. The Main Hall—also known as the Egyptian Hall—required a solution that combined discreet integration with modern functionality.

Phase One: Digital Transformation in a Heritage Setting
The first phase saw the replacement of an ageing analogue system with a fully automated digital AV infrastructure. Our team installed a Yamaha LS9 digital mixing console, controlled via a bespoke touchscreen interface tailored to the needs of Mansion House’s events team. We deployed a robust patching system to support a wide variety of configurations and installed a Shure radio microphone system for flexible speech reinforcement.
This upgrade enabled Mansion House to deliver modern AV experiences while preserving the aesthetic and acoustic integrity of the building. Every component was selected and installed with respect for the site’s architectural constraints and listed status.
Phase Two: Precision Loudspeaker Upgrade
The second phase involved replacing the loudspeakers with AXYS® Intellivox V-90s—column arrays designed for high-ceilinged, acoustically reflective environments. These speakers were chosen for their directional control, allowing us to focus sound precisely where needed while minimising spill and reverberation in adjacent spaces.
